Special Religious Education (SRE) in Public Schools
Special Religious Education (SRE) in NSW has come under constant attack by anti-religion activists. Despite this, both Labor and Liberal Governments have protected parents rights to choose SRE for their children, and have improved school compliance.
The evidence is clear: When quality SRE is provided, and parents are given the choice, attendance increases. This proves that the parents of NSW want their children to learn about their faith in their public schools.
But we cannot take this right for granted. When we are quiet, the activists are the only voices that are heard.
As the school term starts, take five minutes to write to your local State MP, thank them for the bi-partisan support for SRE, and ask them to keep protecting this important opportunity for NSW families.
Politicians only know what matters when you tell them.
