Introduce
Address them as “Dear representatives of and “
Briefly introduce yourself. Say that you live in their electorate and mention any connection you have with a local church, faith community or community organisation.
Concerns
Say you are very concerned about the Greens’ “conversion practices” legislation.
Explain your biggest personal concerns.
You might include:
- A single conversation or prayer could be a “conversion practice”
- Parents, faith communities and consensual conversations are not protected
- A harmless conversation with a child could be defined as “child abuse”
- You could go to jail for a single conversation or prayer that doesn’t cause any harm.
Conclude
Ask them to oppose the legislation, and protect parents, faith communities and consensual conversations and prayer.
Assure them you are praying for them as they serve the community (make sure you do pray!)
Include your name and address, so they know you are a member of their electorate.
