An MLC is a Member of the Legislative Council, or the “upper house”. These politicians do not have a specific electorate or area, but represent the State as a whole. The main portion of the debate about the “Conversion Practices” legislation was held in the Legislative Council, so these MLCs were on the front line of arguing for amendments to the legislation. The debate started at 11pm on Thursday and went straight through to the final vote at 6:30am the next day.
The following MLCs moved amendments that would have made the “Conversion Practices” bill much better. You can see all amendments on the Parliamentary website. Unfortunately none of these amendments were succesful, but these MLCs deserve a big thanks for their efforts.
The following MLCs also made speeches in support of amendments.

Your commitment to ensuring that faith communities, parents, and individuals maintain their rights is important to many. I appreciate the amendments you proposed, which aim to provide clearer protections within the bill.
Your speech in parliament was a strong indication of your dedication to serving the interests of the people of New South Wales. I sincerely thank you for all the hard work you put into this issue. Please continue to stand up for the rights of religious freedom in our state.
