  • their strong support for faith communities
  • showing that they are listening to the concerns of faith leaders

Ask

Dear MP not found,
or Dear MP not found,

I am writing to express serious concerns regarding the new "Respect at Work" bill, especially about its potential impact on faith communities. The bill's provisions, particularly the broad definition of "harassment based on sex," could unjustly encompass traditional religious teachings and practices. This could lead to unintended consequences for religious organisations and individuals who strive to uphold their faith's values and doctrines.

It is disappointing that the Government has dismissed the concerns and requests from faith leaders who have highlighted these issues. Faith communities have a significant role in our society, and their practices should be preserved and respected, not threatened by legislative overreach. The broad definitions within the bill could result in legal challenges against religious expressions, creating a climate of uncertainty and fear among those who practice their faith.

In light of these concerns, I urge the Government to reconsider its stance and engage in meaningful dialogue with faith leaders. Will the Government meet with these representatives to address and amend the bill to safeguard religious freedom while still achieving the bill's intended goals? I look forward to your response on this important matter.
