The Queensland Government have released a bill that threatens our ability to say and teach what we believe.
The “Respect at Work” bill creates a ban on “hateful” speech that could include a wide range of religious teaching. It also empowers the Anti-Discrimination Commissioner to investigate churches and other faith groups to ensure compliance.
Faith leaders have told the Government what is wrong with the bill, but have been ignored.
The most important thing you can do is to write to your local MP and tell them you are concerned about the bill.
A website has been launched by the combined heads of faith to make it easy for you to learn more about the bill and write to your MP.
